Classic Aromatic Fougere Hall of Famer

* Classic masculine aromatic fougere that belongs in Hall of Fame
* Potent and complex mix of fresh, herbal, dry citrus, aromatic, oakmoss, musk, spices and aldehydes
* Pleasant and refreshing soapy drydown
* Smells just like Irish Spring soap or shaving cream
* Good performance
* May bring up pleasant nostalgic feelings
* Retro appeal

* Not appealing for younger users who prefer the modern fresh and sweet style of fragrance
* Long past its heyday
* Smells just like Irish Spring soap or shaving cream
* Not unisex
* May bring up negative nostalgic feelings
* Drakkar Intense flanker is modern and much, much better

Guy Laroche's Drakkar Noir is, straight up, a classic fragrance that belongs in the Hall of Fame if there ever was one, both in the overall and the aromatic fougere categories, alongside Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, Alfred Sung Homme, Calvin Klein Eternity for Men and Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui. This was a MAJOR hit in the 80's when it debuted and rightfully so. It's a potent blend of fresh, herbal, aromatic, and spicy aromas. It ends in a very pleasant and refreshing drydown that will remind you immediately of Irish Spring soap as you exit the shower. Of course, so does showering with Irish Spring soap itself, making this redundant if you do.

Performance is good though I understand the potency has been dialed down severely from what it used to be, understandable given its over four decade long existence. This is extremely masculine, classic barbershop stuff. It will bring up pleasant memories for those who like and unpleasant ones for those who associate it with older generations. The major problem it faces is that the current generation of fragrance users are much younger as a whole and prefer sweet and fresh colognes by far. This is very pleasant, but also a relic long past its heyday. Time has left it behind. What was once a groundbreaking fragrance is now a a retro novelty. As such, I do recommend the newer Drakkar Intense, which was created and released in 2022 and brilliantly adds a sweet amber note that brings the Drakkar DNA right into the modern era.

This is great for older users with all occasions and in all weather. It is not unisex and comes across very masculine as do all aromatic fougeres. Fun to try and worth buying, if only for a retro nostalgic kick.

Very Satisfied

I am very satisfied with my order. It came fast and I didnt have any issues. Normally I purchase the 100ml from retail stores for twice the price of the 200ml I purchased. Will definitely shop again and recommend to anyone.
