Lattafa's Eternal Oud is a purported clone of Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Grand Soir. I have no experience with it and can only judge Eternal Oud on its own merits. And they are quite strong merits. This is pretty much a perfect amber fragrance. It's dense and rich, a blend of sweet, amber, vanilla, powder, and fruit aromas. The fruit is prominent in the opening blast and then gives way to the sweet ambery drydown. There is a touch of oud on the drydown but it's so weak that you actually have to focus on it to find it. Anyone who loves oud fragrances is sure to be disappointed. Honestly, they should have dropped the oud altogether and left as is or added a different note and renamed this. It's actually not really needed, the rest of the blend is so good.
This is a great fragrance for intimate occasions in particular and social occasionals overall. It's totally unisex and good for all ages. It's not good for those who dislike sweet fragrances and prefer a drier fragrance, but everyone else should love this. Performance is average with a strong opening and good longevity but low sillage. The price is great for what it offers. It's pretty much niche quality for discounter price. Highly recommended.
Note that the presentation has changed. The bottle is still very beautiful but the dome presentation has been removed in favor of a felt lined double box. I was wondering if it's because the dome might be too fragile and break easily during shipping but I also have a bottle of Lattafa's Winners Trophy Silver which uses the same dome presentation and it arrived in perfect condition. So I'm not sure why the change, but my photos include both the old and new presentation for your enjoyment.
