Jesus del Pozo's Halloween Man X is a flanker in the successful Halloween line of fragrances. Man X is their biggest success, a coffee forward gourmand fragrance that had very few if any peers up until recently. This is coffee forward with lots of spice and a bit of an aromatic fougere touch. This is a good and complex blend of coffee, spices, lavender, booze and vanilla aromas. The lavender is quite prominent in the opening and the coffee dominates the drydown. It's a very dark roasted coffee note.
This is great for gourmand lovers and was a runaway hit for years with little competition. That has now changed with the release of the Fragrance World Coffee Collection line, but there are other competitors in the market as well including the Polo Red and Black lines and the Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo lines. And of course there's a ton of gourmand fragrances available as well. Still, I have many of them and none have the dark roasted coffee note that Man X has.
This is unisex and good for all ages. It's serious enough for formal occasions and appealing enough for more social events. The price is just great for a designer fragrance. The lavender note may not be appealing to those looking for a strictly gourmand fragrance, but it does make this stand out more. Performance is average, so be prepared to overspray on first application and respray occasionally throughout the day. Bottle presentation is stylish, which you'd expect from the late fashion designer. Recommended.
