Lalique's Encre Noire A L'Extreme ("To the extreme") is both aptly named and understated at the same time. Straight up: this is SUPERB quality for the price. It's a niche level cologne for a discounter price. The only other cologne I'd place on the same level is Bentley For Men Intense which I also recommend. Encre Noire A L'Extreme punches WAY way above its affordable price point. How this is not getting more hype online is beyond me.
This is a wood forward fragrance with a complex and warm blend of oud, vetiver (grass), mint, powder and musk (patchouli), incense, and sandalwood. It has an incredibly strong performance with great longevity, projection and sillage.
All this said, the oud note is going to make this very polarizing for some, especially in North America. It's a very masculine cologne and is definitely not unisex. It also leans older and would not be appropriate for younger users. It's great for cooler weather, dates, outdoor activities and formal occasions.
