Lattafa's Affection is a clone of Kayali's Pistachio Yum Gelato. Since I live near a Sephora, I was able to compare both and it is important to note that neither fragrance is the gourmand lover's dream of pistachio pudding as a scent that you would expect them to be. Both supplement their nutty and vanilla aromas with different openings.
Whereas Yum Gelato is more fruity, Affection has a strong floral component to it. It's a good blend of sweet, floral, pistachio (duh), wood, vanilla and powder aromas. That floral component is quite strong, and actually overpowers the pistachio and vanilla notes. The nut and vanilla become more prominent in the drydown, but the florals stay with them neck and neck. So this is really a hybrid floral gourmand fragrance and the florals usually win out which may throw gourmand lovers completely off.
Still, the nut and vanilla notes are definitely there so this is good for gourmand lovers. But it's even better for floral fragrance lovers. This is unisex, but those florals do make this lean more feminine than masculine. This is great for younger users and to use in social and intimate occasions. It's likely not good for serious or formal occasions. And though it is unlikely that real nut oils have been used for the pistachio aromas, I would caution those with nut allergies to stay away anyway as a safety precaution.
This is obviously a high quality ingredient fragrance with strong notes and strong performance. Presentation is good and the bottle is nice. It's a tad bit pricier than most of Lattafa's offerings but that is standard for the Pride line and you are certainly getting your money's worth. Recommended as long as you are aware you're not getting a straight pistachio gourmand fragrance but a hybrid one with strong florals. As a gourmand lover, I would have preferred a straight pistachio vanilla fragrance but I would still definitely recommend floral lovers to check this out as well as the gourmand notes conversely make it a very unique take on the traditional floral style fragrance.
